Children's minister in a small church in Tulsa. Very active in the youth program (kinda goes with the territory) but I guess it keeps me out of too much trouble.

Mom's Surgery

The surgery went good, better than they expected. She was out in 10 hours instead of the 12 they expected, & it's usually a good sign when it takes less time. Sitting around a hospital waiting room isn't what I'd call a "vacation"; worrying about what's going on, how things are going, if everything's all right. They have a nurse that comes around every hour to give everyone updates, which is nice. At least hearing them say everything's fine is a comfort.

It's funny how fast you form attachments with the others wating with you. There was a lady whose husband was in surgery; we kind of eavesdropped on each other when the nurse would come by. Compare notes, comfort each other, try & keep everything lighthearted. It's heartwarming to see how fast you come to feel compassion for others in a similar situation. There was another lady who was waiting for her son to come out of surgery. She was there before we got there & still there when we left the first night, but we never saw her again. I pray everything went fine & they just moved her son to another floor.
